PBWiki, the wiki editor tool for groups and communities, has crossed a major milestone in the growth of their userbase this week. As they celebrate their 3rd anniversary, they’re marking it by making sure that the users closest to the 500k mark will be lifetime users. PBWiki VP of Marketing Chris Yeh dropped me a line to let us know that they’ll soon be crossing the threshhold of 500,000 wikis being powered by their system, and the 499,999th, 500,000th and 500,001st users who sign up hosting will be upgraded to premium level access for free for the life of the wiki. Premium level access gives wiki owners the ability to turn on features including IP white-listing and the recently announced automated design customizer. The official birthdate is May 31st, which was when in 2005 current CEO David Weekly launched the company. Since then, PBWiki has been growing steadily and playing host to a myriad of client types, ranging from public to private sector, including many profit and non-profit organizations. “Support from our customers has always been a key strength for PBwiki,” said Weekly, “We’re delighted to have them share in the celebration of PBwiki’s incredible growth.” Back in February, Chris Yeh of PBWiki sat down to give us an interesting overview of the hosted wiki space in general as well as a brief history of PBWiki in specific.
