IPower Or IPowerWeb?

have you seen iPower or iPowerweb in any of the forums or web hosting directories? Does the similarity in name confuse you? It shouldn’t they are the same company but they have two separate web sites with seemingly separate types of customer offers. Almost a decade ago iPowerweb emerged in the web hosting market and quickly became a leader in low cost shared web hosting. iPowerweb had a very good name and reputation at that time, they were based out of Santa Monica and they grew from a company with 3 employees to 11 in the first year and in the second year they were a company of more than 35 sales, support and administrative personnel.

A few years into their existence they were approached by a company which owned the domain name iPower.com and were offered the domain name at an undisclosed price. iPowerweb purchased the domain name and decided to allow that new domain to be come the broadening of the ipowerweb services under the new pseudo brand. They expanded into VPS and dedicated hosting as well as .net, asp, windows hosting. In 2005 the company moved their headquarters to Phoenix AZ to take advantage of the lower cost of doing business and retaining their employees in Phoenix rather than in Santa Monica. Last year in 2007 iPowerweb / ipower sold to the Endurance Group out of Boston Mass, leaving most of their chief architects of their success still in place.
