Stuffing more horses into your engine used to take countless hours, cost a ridiculous wad of cash in parts, and usually resulted in the busting of several knuckles. Thankfully, with today’s computer-controlled vehicles tuning is about as easy as playing Pong.
If you’ve seen some vehicle performance TV shows, you may remember how they spend the entire day over an engine, taking apart parts and getting in new expensive stuff, cheking everything with computers. After half day of work, they start the engine and get all excited over some 3 or 4 horuse power gain. Not the best way to spend your sunday.
Yes, those are the classic computer-free vehicles that you have complete control over. However, if you want to have more power fast and not have to spend a whole weekend and spend some serious cash in the process, you have the superior option of computer controlled vehicles. Most probably, you are driving a computer-controlled vehicle right now. Did you know that? This makes tuning very easy because the computer in your car is programed to define your engine performance.
Just replace your computer engine programming with another one oriented to performance and you will notice a power in your car you didn’t know was there. How can you get that in a few steps? Get a power programmer or car performance chip. DiabloSport and Hypertech are good brands. These power programmers will replace your programming with new performance programs created by professionals. Get the chip into the OBD-II port, usually beneath your steering column and follow the instruccions (usually some yes or no commands), which will guide you trought the process. Now you are ready to experience 20 or even more horse power. For the most part, it will take some 15 minutes to get it ready.
There are a few drivers out there who want the extra power, but are apprehensive of using this sort of tuning method. Their concern is that how can so much power be gain so fast, when the guys on tube spend hours and only add a few horsepower. But the skeptics can rest easy. Modern automakers simply down-tune their cars for the general population. Engines are setup to work the same for performance enthusiasts as they do for octogenarians who believe going over 40 mph is breakneck speed. You don’t fall into the later, nor are you a soccer mom unconcerned about performance, you demand it.
Car performance programmers are not your average settings. That’s what makes them so great. If you are worried about taking your car to service, the car performance chip manufacturers usually integrate a return original program, so your warranty is not in risk.
Even the federal law protects you. The states law say that your vehicles warranty cannot be voided by performance parts, like car performance chips, unless they are the cause of the breackdown. Another good reason not to wait and get that extra power into your engine.
